powerfulpicks short term call: Buy Crew B.O.S. Products Limited (NSE: CREWBOS) at 154 for a short term 2 month target of 171 (+11%). Medium term 6 month target 183.

It manufactures and exports fashion accessories and home decoration products. After bottoming out in March 2009 at Rs 16, the stock has been on an intermediate-term uptrend forming rising peaks and troughs. Crew B.O.S. has over the years, grown from being a fashion bag and belt manufacturer to a manufacturer of multiple products in the fashion accessories segment.

To encash the huge opportunity in fashion accesories, the company is looking at penetrating the domestic market under it's own brand name. The Company also intends to initiate a multi brand concept (diffrent brands for youth, executives, women, etc.

The organized market for designer apparel (the company's product segment) is estimated to be over 250 cr with a consumer base of three lakh such households (consumers with an annual household income of Rs 10 lac) and growing at 40-45 per cent. The designer wear industry is expected to grow to Rs 1000 crore by 2015: four times the current industry size.

Entry into footwear exports to act as engine for growth

The company has started exporting fashion footwear during FY 2003-04 as this segment holds tremendous potential. The production of basic footwear is rapidly shifting from developed world towards low cost & labor rich countries like India. It is interesting to note that the German leather footwear industry has experienced a de-growth of 25 percent during the last decade and severe competition in Italian footwear industry has forced large manufacturers consider outsourcing as the only means of survival. Structural changes that are permanent in nature and irreversible are expected to benefit Indian footwear industry immensely in medium term.
